🔥 Volair Mach 1 Forza Quick Look

A lot of people have been asking me for thoughts on the Volair Mach 1 Forza 16mm. I don’t believe I’ll be doing any long form content on it, so below are some of my quick thoughts.

As I expected, the Forza doesn’t really have a strong identity or standout feature from other paddles that it is similar too. Primarily the SixZero Double Black Diamond and the Ronbus R1 Pulsar.

Now, before we get upset about that, I actually don’t think this is a bad thing.

The SixZero Double Black Diamond has been very, very hard to get ahold of, and for good reason. It’s an amazing paddle. The R1 Pulsar has also required pre-ordering with the R-Code.

In my play testing so far, the Forza plays somewhere between or very close to a DBD or R1 Pulsar. I’m not sure which it is closer to yet, but my gut is telling me the R1 Pulsar.

In my spin test, it was over 2,000 RPM which is a fantastic result. You can feel it on the court too.

So, the reason I say it isn’t a bad thing if it’s similar to the other two paddles is because it’s priced reasonably well at $179.99, and with discount code PBSTUDIO it’s about $160~.

The great thing is, it comes with a number of accessories that the others don’t. Some may matter to you, some may not.

  • A paddle eraser

  • Paddle head cover

  • Replacement grip

  • Volair sticker

  • Replacement neck band (the little rubber piece at the top of your handle)

Of course, the last two things, most people probably don’t care about.

I do think that including a paddle eraser, replacement grip and head cover is a good value though.

I could go to a tournament and compete with the Forza completely fine. It feels familiar without too much adjustment period. I think if you can’t get ahold of a DBD or R1 Pulsar, the Forza is a solid pick up.

Also, side note, the Forza is a darn good looking paddle. Love the blue and the gradient.

🚨 Don’t leave your paddle in the car

You know, I’m actually surprised by how many people still don’t know that you shouldn’t leave your paddles in your car.

If you are someone who does this, you should stop it right away. Especially if you live in hotter climate.

Leaving your paddles in a very hot (or cold) car can be bad for the materials of your paddle. In the heat, it’s specifically the edge guard that takes a beating. Usually the glue loosens up and starts to come loose.

In the winter, the cold can be bad for the polymer core. Especially if you go from the car straight to hitting a rock hard Dura. Especially in this age where delam/core crush is an issue, this will only make it worse.

So, I’d highly recommend you bring your paddles inside your house and not leave them in your car regularly. Several friends as of lately had paddles damaged because of it.
